History of AFCEA

The AFCEA International was established in 1946 in the United States as a non-profit Organization, with the goal to acting as a point of junction between the Defense, Government, Industry and Academia in order to develop the professional knowledge and relationships in the field of communications, IT, Intelligence, and global security.
The belief is that only a fast, open and continuous dialogue can offer solutions to deliver value to Governments in pursuit of well-being and security of its citizens.
AFCEA's key values are:

  • the Quality;
  • the Training;
  • the Diversity.

Through these values, AFCEA wants:

  • Provide an ethical forum that promotes the exchange of information on the technologies (and their associated issues) among government agencies, industries and universities around the world;
  • Provide value and benefits to its members and the Community interest;
  • Actively engage with government agencies on policies IT;
  • Grow and maintain its presence within the IT community;
  • Provide professional development.

Today AFCEA is a reality that has more than 19,000 individual members, 13,500 members belonging to different companies and 1,700 companies associated, divided into 145 Chapters and Subchapters distributed in 34 countries (USA, 39 88 in Europe, Pacific, 9 in Canada, 1 in 3 in Central America, 1 in South America, 1 in the Caribbean, 1 in Kuwait, Afghanistan 1 and 1 in Iraq).
