Il programma europeo Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), parte del più ampio Common Security Defense Policy, riflette il bisogno imprescindibile per gli stati membri dell’Unione Europea di fronteggiare le minacce in aree affollate e assicurare la continuità operativa alle infrastrutture cruciali.La sicurezza e la resilienza delle infrastrutture critiche europee deve essere garantita per evitare che una qualsiasi interruzione durante le fasi operative possa determinare il collasso di ampi settori legati alle nostre attività. Nell’ambito del 7° Programma Quadro e del programma europeo HORIZON 2020 sulla sicurezza e le società sicure, SCOUT, “Multitech SeCurity system for intercOnnected space control groUnd staTions”, è un progetto europeo finanziato nell’ambito del 7FP, finalizzato alla sicurezza fisica e logica delle stazioni di controllo satellitari anche se, trattandosi di una tecnologia duale, può essere utilizzato per la protezione di ogni infrastruttura sia civile sia militare.  Il progetto è stato eseguito da un consorzio guidato dal laboratorio nazionale RASS (Radar ans Surveillance System) del CNIT (Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni) insieme con nove partners di sei paesi differenti. Iniziato nel 2014, il progetto si concluderà nell’Aprile 2018. AFCEA Capitolo di Roma ospiterà il workshop finale di SCOUT, che avrà luogo il prossimo 15 marzo a presso la “Casa dell’Aviatore”. Nel corso del workshop verranno presentate anche altre iniziative Europee e nazionali relative alla protezione delle infrastrutture critiche, per creare una rete tra tutti i potenziali stakeholders europei.

The Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP),  part of the wider Common Security Defense Policy program, is nowadays a sensible and an extremely important need for EU member states to mitigate threats against crowded areas and ensure the continuous operation of crucial infrastructures. The security and resilience of Europe critical infrastructure need to be guaranteed since a disruption in their operations may determine the collapse of large sectors of our activities. In the framework of FP7 and Horizon 2020 European programs on Security and Secure Societies, SCOUT, “Multitech SeCurity system for intercOnnected space control groUnd staTions”, is one of the EU projects funded under the FP7, focused on physical and cyber security of space control ground stations, however its application can be extended to any critical infrastructure as SCOUT is a dual use technology for civilian and military applications.   The project has been  carried out by a consortium led by the Radar and Surveillance System (RASS) national lab of the CNIT (IT) (Italian Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunication) together with nine European  partners of six different Nations. Started in 2014, the project  will be concluded in April 2018. AFCEA Rome Chapter will host the final SCOUT Workshop on the 15th March 2018 in Rome, at the premises of “Casa dell’Aviatore” in Rome.  This event will also be extended  to other European and national initiatives  focused on critical infrastructure protection for creating a network among the potential EU stakeholders.
